| Music 596R: World Music Edward J Hines, Union #28 & Union #38 Public Schools July 9 -11, 2009 This workshop is designed for current and future K-12 music educators who wish to develop new and in-depth methods of bringing world music topics into the classroom. Using Middle Eastern music as a starting point and model, non-Western instruments, dances modes, folk and classical literature, performance practices, relationships to the West and resources will be explored. |

All graduate courses and workshops are available for academic credit in the Master of Music Degree program at UMass Amherst as well as professional development points (PDPs) for Massachusetts schools. All courses are for three credits. Tuition is $320 per credit hour. The July workshops have a minimal fee of $320, for which a student may receive one graduate credit or 22.5 PDPs.
